Modern Classic Style

More and more, I find myself leaning towards wanting to build a good core wardrobe that consists of classic staples. I totally get that sometimes we tend to associate classic with conservative, or even (dare I say) boring. I am, however, of the opinion that in order to have a wardrobe that works for you and facilitates easily creating different outfits, you will need to have those classic base pieces that are of great quality. Lets take Fall, for example, since it is currently that time of year. When getting ready for work, I always want to incorporate a great fitting black sweater, but over the years I have found that I tend to buy sweaters that are embellished, oversized or even slouchy. While these items of clothing have their place, they tend to be on the trendier side of fashion. As such, they do not provide that clean, sleek and effortless look.

When I got the opportunity to work with Talbots, I knew I wanted to select items that could stay in my wardrobe for a long time. I wanted my pieces to have a classic style with a modern look, without ever feeling stuffy or old-fashioned. Talbots does this exceptionally well. I opted for a black 100% cashmere sweater, which is so soft and cozy that it feels like a second skin. A well-tailored black wool coat, paired with black pumps, completed the look. I love a monochrome outfit, as I feel it’s truly classic and timeless.
