Universal CityWalk (Bob Marley - A Tribute to Freedom)

Hi Guys!! *excited waving hand* LOL

Last Saturday (03/09) I got the opportunity to visit the entertainment capital of Orlando – University CityWalk. I was sitting at home bored, when Amelia and PJ suggested that we all go out to Bob Marley’s. Having accepted the offer, I became extremely excited as I’d never been and was really curious to see what it was all about. We got ready and left out at about 11:30 pm and got there about 15 minutes pass 12. Going in, I didn’t know what to expect, as a lot of people try to emulate Jamaica’s cultural practices, and their efforts have proven to be unsuccessful. Of course, I’d come off as probably one of the most difficult critics seeing that I am from the actual island.

Bob Marley is situated at Universal CityWalk, the location perceived to be Orlando’s hottest spot for entertainment. It is in my opinion is an ideal spot to chill and mingle with family and friends for any occasion over a nice meal or late night drinks. As it relates to the physical appearance, it mimics the home of the legendary artiste, existing on 54 Hope Road in Kingston, Jamaica. There exists, within its walls, old artifacts, photos, and video clips from his career as the King of Reggae.

Having gone in, Bob Marley’s had a vintage vibe. I was not only amazed by the overall set up of the place, with its open air veranda, and courtyard, but was amazed that the owners of such a fine establishment had captured this aspect of the Jamaican culture very well. They had a great mix of live music, and a DJ playing the latest in dancehall, reggae, and soca hits. Given the name of entity, I thought I would be hearing a lot more of Bob Marley, or even cultural music for that matter, but that was not the case. Maybe it was the night that I had gone but I heard a lot of soca of which I’m not a fan. Despite that minor disappointment, the atmosphere was great, they were reasonably priced, and I enjoyed every minute I spent there. I’d recommend this spot any day, to anyone in the Orlando area seeking an Authentic Caribbean Experience.
