Cancun Travel Guide

Hey Guys,

I have an upcoming trip to Mexico, which had me reminiscing on my trip to Cancun a few years ago. The trip to Cancun was a group trip for my Sister’s 30thbirthday. We had such a good time on that trip that I decided to share what we did while we were there.

Where we stayed:
We decided to stay at Secrets ‘the Vine’ Cancun. The hotel was located in the hotel zone, which is only 20 minutes from the airport. Upon arrival, we were greeted with champagne and a hot towel to freshen up. We then met our personal butler who ensured our bags were taken care of for us.

Welcome champagne

My husband and I booked a Preferred Club Junior Suite, which was located on the 22ndfloor. Being a Preferred Club guest, our stay came with additional perks such as a private check-in area, personal butler, a fully stocked & complimentary mini bar that included snacks, access to a private lounge, access to a private pool and access to a private bar area just to name a few. The additional cost was definitely worth it!

View from our room
The property had a selection of three main pools with surrounding areas. Each was just as lovely as the other and with cabanas, cushioned sun-beds and luxurious towels at your disposal, we had everything we needed and more. Our Preferred Club pool was located on a higher floor in the hotel and overlooked the main pool deck.

What we did:

Day 1 - Vip Nightclub Tour
We booked a tour, which enabled us to visit three nightclubs and skip the long lines. There were also unlimited drinks included. Overall the tour and our tour guide were great. The only downfall is that the last club was so packed that we could hardly move.

Day 2 -Souvenir Shopping/Local Experience
We chose to go to a local mall where we could souvenir shop and buy gifts for friends.

Day 3 - Xel-Ha
This park was so much fun despite the fact that it rained for about an hour. We took a relaxing tour of the river while floating in an inner tube and explored some caves, just to list a few of the things we enjoyed doing. I also had my first fish pedicure!

Day 4 - Chichen Itza & Birthday Dinner
For our trip to Chichen Itza we booked another tour. They picked us up from our hotel at 7:10am and they were definitely on time. Food was provided which ended up being a sandwich and juice box. Our tour included a private Archeologist, who was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot both along the way and at the pyramid.

Once we arrived back at our hotel, we rested and got ready for the night’s festivities. We had reservations at Dragons Oriental (one of the restaurants on property) for Renee’s birthday dinner.

Where we ate:
We ate all our meals at the hotel mainly because it was all-inclusive. We ensured that we ate before we started our day and as soon as we got back. Below is a list of all the restaurants on the property.

- Barefoot Grill - sandwiches and simple sides

- Bluewater Grill - grilled specialties

- Dragons Oriental Dining - Far East Cuisine (my favorite)

- Market Café - buffet for breakfast and lunch, Mexican restaurant at dinner (we had breakfast here every morning)

- Nebbiolo - Italian

- Olio - Mediterranean

- Sea Salt Grill - grilled items, seafood

- The Vine Bazaar - coffee, pastries, small sandwiches, fresh fruit

We had to make reservations in advance for all of the restaurants because we had a party of nine; which was considered a large party.

Until next time guys, thanks for reading
