Foodie Experience | Miami

Hey Guys,

A couple weekends ago my friends and I headed to Miami to celebrate a birthday within the group. This trip turned out to be quite the foodie experience; we ended up eating our way through the city. Here is a list of all our stops and what I thought of them.

We started our weekend getaway on a Friday night with dinner at Bakan, which was the cutest Tulum-esq restaurant that serves Mexican cusine. The restaurant had great vibes and good food. What else could we want?

MANGO PETACON
mezcal, triple sec, mango puree, mint, brown sugar & lime juice
The following morning we got all dolled up and headed to brunch at Juvia. This rooftop bar and restaurant featured stunning views of the Miami skyline and the décor was just as beautiful. However, our brunch just did not deliver! This was very disappointing to say the least. We started on a high; the French toast was exquisitely delicious and hit all the right notes but it was down hill from there. The drinks were terrible and I had to send my main course (steak) back twice. Once for being cold and the other for being undercooked. At this point I was already over it.

FRENCH TOAST
banana, berries, maple syrup
SKIRT STEAK & EGG
yucca fries
Complementary Birthday Shots

We left and went to Miami Mojito Company to get some real drinks and they did not disappoint.

Checking out the artisan donut shop Salty Donut was next on the list. I was so surprised to see that there was a line wrapped around the outside of the shop. I guess this was a good sign that we were in for a real treat.

Right around the corner was our next stop: No. 3 Social which was described on their website as a culturally vibrant rooftop bar and lounge in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami. No. 3 Social is cool; it has a nice relaxing vibe, the drinks are great but I can definitely pass on the food. If you are in the area it is worth checking out.

THE PERFECT PEAR
muddled kiwi, absolut pear, simple syrup, lime, lychee puree

For dinner we headed to KYU hoping to find out why it’s so hard to get a reservation here. After dinner I can see why! The food here was the best I had eaten since the start of this little foodie getaway. The fried chicken is to die for and I swear they make the sauce it is served in with voodoo. It is addictively good! I didn’t, however, fancy the fried rice but its not because it wasn’t good. It was seasoned to perfection but the combination of seasonings were not appealing to my tastebuds. The service was impeccable and our waiter was truly amazing.

KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN
braised spinach, red chili butter
Sunday morning took us to Tap 42 for brunch. Tap 42 is one of your feel good restaurants that you can revisit time and time again and know that the food and the service will be the same. We had such a good time I didn’t even remember to take pictures of my food. I did, however, have their chicken and waffles, which is comfort food at its best.
