Vizcaya Museum and Gardens | Miami

Hey Guys,

I had been to Miami many times and never even knew that the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens existed. I may have never found this location, if it wasn’t for the fact that I had received some very exciting news and needed somewhere extra special to shoot some pictures. Based upon my research, I came to realize that Vizcaya was very popular in Miami for shooting engagements, weddings and Quinceanera photos. This was perfect for my needs.

Upon arrival, I was in total awe. Nothing could have prepared me for how beautiful this estate was. Vizcaya was the winter home of John Deering, which was built between 1914 and 1922. Vizcaya is said to be a modern and subtropical interpretation of an eighteenth-century Italian villa. There is definitely no denying the French influence within the gardens. At first glance, the gardens reminded me of what I have seen online of the Gardens of Versailles (hope to visit some day soon).

Anywho……. because of the French influence, I felt I needed to don a Parisian ball gown and run around these gardens. However, that may have looked utterly ridiculous in 2018 contemporary & modern Miami. Instead, I decided to go for more of a long and flowy motif. You couldn’t have missed me in my bright yellow dress if you tried. This dress was definitely one of those rare finds on Forever21’s website. I remember distinctly thinking to myself: ‘hurry and place the order because this is going to sell out!’ It so happens that it actually sold out after I made my purchase, so I’m happy I clicked checkout when I did. I got so many compliments on this dress alongside a few random strangers deciding to take pictures of me. I can happily tick this one off as a good buy!
